First World War Experience

The researcher can find our very little about Ernest apart from the fact that he is buried in the Brandhoek New Military Cemetery, in Ypres, Belgium.  He died during the Battle of Pilckem Ridge (31st July to 2nd August) which was the opening attack of the Third Battle of Ypres. The cemetery was opened in July 1917 and there was a total of 558 servicemen buried there. Ernest was just 28 years of age when he was killed.

Ernest was awarded both the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.
