Family Information

Parents:          Alfred Leppard, born 1857, and Ann Leppard, nee Campion (1854-1890), Alfred’s second wife. Alfred was a Dairyman and was an employer.

Siblings:         Katie, born 1885; Thomas (1889-1918); Percy (1890-1892).

Henry had various address’ – Stockleigh House; 78 Bulverhythe, St. Leonard’s; and 16 Salisbury Road, Bexhill on Sea.

First World War Experience

It is unclear when Henry joined the Royal Engineers but he was a member in August 1917.  When he enlisted he stated that he had previously been in the Royal Sussex Regiment.  A very few pages of his service record have survived and from them we know that he had a chest measurement of 37” – expansion 2½” – and had a medical classification of A+1

He saw service in France and was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
