Albert married Emma Elizabeth Sanden in the June quarter of 1913 in the Battle registration area.

First World War Experience

Albert enlisted before October 1914 – although we do not have an exact date. His official death notice appeared in a local newspaper on 21st July 1917 and read:

 “Private Hook Killed.

 Official intimation has been received with regard to the death of Private Albert Henry Hook, Royal Sussex Regiment, who has been missing since the 3rd September 1916. His widow resides at 76 Station-road.  He was brother-in-law to Mr and Mrs Woodsock of Sackville Road.”

 Albert was awarded the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.
