Family Information

Mother – Elizabeth Hancock, nee Butts, (1841-1900)

Siblings:         Lydia, born 1867; Edward, born 1869; William, born 1871; Jane (1875-1949); and Anne, born 1878.

Albert married Lily Reed on 9th August 1917 in the Battle area.  They had two children beforehand – Ronald Arthur, born 1914, and Irene Lilian, born in 1916.

First World War Experience

Albert enlisted on 22nd June 1918 – when he was just over 45 years of age.  He weighed 126lbs and had 6/4 vision in his right eye with 6/6 vision in his left. He had a heart murmur at the apex and eczema of the right thigh.

 Apart from knowing that he saw service in the Eastern Theatre of War nothing else can be found of Albert’s service – not even a record of any medals he was awarded.
