Family Information

Mother:           Fanny Adelaide Cocks (1857-1935). 

Sister:             Cecily Cocks (1890-).

In the 1911 Census Fanny, Cecily, and Wyllard were living at St. Arvan’s, Magdalene Road, Bexhill on Sea.  Fanny was living on private means and she employed a Lady Parlour Maid – Emily Venn.

First World War Experience

Wyllard enlisted prior to 21th September 1915 and fought in the Theatre of War 1 (France).  He was killed in action on 9th April 1917 and the following is from the Commonwealth War Graves listings:

“Lt. Wyllard Fleetwood Cocks, 3rd Bn. Lincolnshire Regiment. 9th April 1917. Age 25. Son of Mrs. F. A. Cocks of Jesmond, Ryde, Isle of Wight.”

Wyllard was awarded the Victory Medal, the British War Medal, and the 15 Star.
