Family Information

Parents:          George Henry Booker (1853-1936) and Frances Booker, nee Brooks, (1862-).

Spouse:          On 2nd  June 1913 Alfred married Naomi Harriett Errey in Hastings.  They had one child – a son – George Alfred Booker (1915-1998).

In 1911 Alfred was boarding in a house in Hastings but when he married in 1913 the couple went to live at 15 North Road, Sidley.

Alfred died on 20th June 1953 in Hastings and at that time he was living at 1 Beaconsfield Road, Bexhill on Sea. He left his wide, Naomi, £1301.12s.10d.

First World War Experience

Alfred enlisted on 7th December 1915 when he was 33 years and 2 months old.  He was 5’ 6” tall, with a chest measurement of 38” – expansion 2” – and weighed 9st 10lb. He stated at that time that he was a Baptist but, on his demob in 1919, he said he was a member of the Church of England.

He was seen to be of “Good Physical Development” but had defective teeth.  He had a scar on his right scrotum due to an old operation for a hydrocele.  He also had slightly flat feet, with stiffness and weakness of the right foot from an old injury.  He stated that he had had sunstroke when he was 15+ and had suffered from severe headaches very frequently ever since.

The researcher cannot ascertain if Alfred received any war medals.
