Family Information

Arthur married Florence Alice Nash (1879-1982) in 1904 and they had two children – Harold, born 1905 in Bexhill, and Reginald Louis, born 1908 in Bexhill.  Reginald died in 1972.

When Arthur died in 1949 he left his estate of £3985.13s.4d to his widow Florence A. Blacker and his son, Reginald Louis Blacker.  Arthur was living at 31 Strawberry Hill-road, Twickenham, Middx, when he died.

First World War Experience

As with so many soldiers Arthur’s service records did not survive the bombing of WW2 so we only have a report from a local newspaper dated 10th August 1918 to tell us something of his service.  The article reads:-

“Friends of Mr. A. H. Blacker, who joined the R.G.A. some time ago, will be interested to hear that he has been promoted Sergeant.”

Arthur was awarded both the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.
