Family Information

Henry married Edith Rebecca Randin on 18th April 1908 in Kensington, London.  Edith was born in Haslemere, Surrey, and they had at least one child – a son, William John.

In 1911 Henry and Edith were living at 15 Egerton Road, Bexhill on Sea, but in 1916 moved twice – once to 22 Western Road, and then to 69 Devonshire Road, Bexhill on Sea.

In the census of 1911 Henry says he was working as a Law Clerk but by the time he joined the Forces in May 1916 he was employed as a Builder’s Manager.

First World War Experience

Henry enlisted on 30th May 1916 and was sent to the Front in France on 14th October of that year.  At that time he was 30 years and 10 months old.  On his Service Records – which are not numerous – he was examined and found to be a good Draughtsman.

Henry was awarded the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.
