
The First World War

Local historian Ken Brooks presents an illustrated lecture. Images from the First World War will include recruitment posters, a British tank fundraising on the seafront, a German submarine washed up on Hastings beach, and a visit by King George V. We will also see letters written by local soldiers describing conditions in the trenches, and unique pictures of the original East Sussex Hospital – later the White Rock Pavilion.
Tickets are £10 (£8 for members) and must be pre-booked. The charge will include tea and coffee, and admission to the museum displays. Please note the museum closes at 4pm.
You may call into the museum and pay by cash or phone the museum reception on 01424 222058 to reserve your place; Payments cannot be taken over the phone, but payment on the day is acceptable. Your place will be held until 15 minutes before the talk starts.
Space is limited in the Museum Education Room so please book early.
