The Birth, Life and Destruction of Old Winchelsea

4 September @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

£6.00
Old WInchelsea

This vital shingle bank port in the Rye Camber sank beneath the waves in 1287. We reveal its entire history and what caused its demise. Meet residents – satanic admiral Eustace the Monk and young pirate Simon de Montfort – and the Kings of England who came ‘on bended knee’ to ask Winchelsea for help. Our speaker, David EP Dennis, tells all.

Part of a series of talks by David, an author, public speaker, historian and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. More about him and his books here.

Tickets may be bought on the door if available.
