The Amsterdam: Shipwreck, Survival and a Seashore Story

Step back to January 1749 and discover the dramatic story of the Dutch merchantman the Amsterdam, wrecked at Bulverhythe more than 275 years ago.
On Saturday 29 August, our guides will bring the story of the ship and its final voyage to life during a walk from Galley Hill to the wreck site at Bulverhythe. At the end, you’ll have the chance to walk out and see for yourself what remains of the historic wreck above the surface.
There’s no need to book. Meet at Galley Hill Coastguard Station at 5.30pm and pay on the day: £5 per person, cash please.
The walk finishes at Bulverhythe. Please wear sensible footwear for sand and mud. Dogs are not permitted.
