‘Sounds LIke Us’ Podcast Training Work Experience
28 August @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Sounds Like Us is a podcast project at Bexhill Museum designed for young people aged 17–25 who want to experiment with audio storytelling. Together we’ll explore themes of place, memory, and home—drawing on your own experiences, the museum’s collections, and the voices of local people.
In four work experience sessions, you’ll learn the essentials of podcast-making: recording in the field, interviewing, scripting, editing with Descript, and creative approaches to sound-based storytelling.
Working on your own and in small groups, you’ll gather material around Bexhill and the museum, then develop it into a 4–6 minute piece. It could take the form of an interview, a sound walk, a poem, a short documentary, or something more experimental.
No experience or equipment needed—we’ll provide everything. Sessions combine demos, group listening, practical exercises, and time to develop your ideas. At the end, a professional audio engineer will help you polish your work for release.
The finished podcast series will be launched at Bexhill Museum in September and shared across all major podcast platforms, with your contribution credited.
The project is led by Lance Dann (University of Brighton) and Ed Baxter (former CEO of Resonance FM). It’s part of the Coastal Catalyst programme, supported by the De La Warr Pavilion’s Talent Accelerator.
