Rameses II & the Reconstruction of Abu Simbel

The last of this year’s Ken Brooks lectures sees him return to Ancient Egypt themes.
He will begin by looking at the life of the Pharaoh Rameses II. During his long reign he did everything on a grand scale, whether it was building impressive temples and statues or producing many children.
The second part of the presentation will feature the reconstruction of his temple at Abu Simbel. This was moved from its original site in 1968 to make way for the creation of Lake Nasser.
Some of the ancient Egyptian artefacts in the museum will also be discussed.
