The Cinque Ports
22 October @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

The Cinque Ports — Hastings, New Romney, Hythe, Dover, and Sandwich — formed a medieval confederation granted special privileges in return for providing ships and sailors to the Crown. Founded before 1066, they became vital to England’s naval defence and trade. Speaker James Dickinson tells how, even as their power declined, their historic charters and maritime heritage remain central to our coastal identity. The talks, at St Augustine’s Hall, are £4 for members and £5 for non-members. Available at the door.
