This purpose-built garage and workshop was built on vacant land on the south-west end of Sackville Road in the late 1920s by Arthur C. Buck who already operated a garage at 27 Sackville Road. In the late 1940s, early 1950s he also used 62, Sackville Road, presumably as a showroom. Also, in the late 1950s, the proprietor changed to “Buck’s Garage (Bexhill) Limited”.
In c1965, this property became amalgamated with the adjacent building, No.68, under the ownership of T R Page & Co Ltd and from then on follows the same changes to Henlys, Caffyns, Westfield Garages and finally Bexhill Auto Centre, which was demolished, in 2006, to make way for the Landmark development.
Buck’s garage at 66, Sackville Road built in the late 1920s took advantage of the vacant plot adjacent to modestly advertise its services (see images 001 & 002)..
