We’re delighted to report that work is well underway on a major improvement to Bexhill Museum — the creation of a new park-facing, multi-use community and education room.
This is a fully accessible, flexible space designed to meet the needs of the many groups, schools, and individuals who use the Museum for learning, creativity, and connection. It will double our capacity for school visits, offer a welcoming venue for community organisations, and allow us to run more events, workshops, and talks than ever before. The building works are fully funded, and the room will be ready to open in January 2026. All that remains is to equip it with the essentials: flooring, chairs, tables, storage, bookshelves, a fitted kitchen, and audio-visual facilities. The total cost of these items is £14,600.
We would like to invite you to help us complete this final stage. A one-off contribution from you — whether £20, £50, £100, or more — will directly fund the furniture and fittings that will bring this wonderful new space to life. Every pound will go towards creating a room that is ready to welcome everyone, from local schoolchildren to community groups, visiting artists to care home residents.
If you are a UK taxpayer, do also consider adding Gift Aid to your donation.
If you would like to discuss your donation or how it could be acknowledged, please contact museum charity secretary Rohan Jayasekera on 01424 222058 or email [email protected].

Bexhill Museum is almost entirely self-funding. Nearly 95% of its day-to-day operating costs have to be raised from admission charges, shop & cafe sales, fundraising events and educational activities. Less than 5% comes from local authority or government support.
This is why we ask visitors - online and in person - to make additional donations to the museum. To support the daily care of the collection and its documentation and its special projects, but also, like everyone else, to meet rising gas, electricity and general costs as well.
