Bexhill Museum, Egerton Road, Bexhill, TN40 2BE

Course postponed until later this year. Please check the website or social media for rescheduled dates after May 1. Ken Brooks talks us through a collection of images, detailing everyday life in Hastings Old Town in the late 19th century. They are the work of the remarkable George Woods, a prolific and highly gifted photographer active in the town at the time. Many of the pictures have only recently been copied from his original glass negatives. Among the subjects featured will be the Old Town’s fishing boats, net shops, Tan House, ice factory and local characters, including the well-known Biddy the Tub-Man.
